Meet our Summer Interns!
HPI has taken on 2 interns for 6 weeks this summer. Both Tyler and Kandra are students here in Adams County and we look forward to having them at HPI for the next month and a half.
Tyler Affolder
Current High School/Grade:
Junior at Adams Central as of Fall 2016
How did you end up interning at HPI:
My teacher told me about it and I filled out the application and interviewed the same day.
What type of things are you doing as an intern?
I will be spending my time in each department doing hands on things and learning.
What attracts you to this business?
I have always loved making things and every day here seems like a new project.
What are you planning on doing after this high school?
Probably 4 years at Purdue. Possibly the apprenticeship program here.
Tell us about yourself?
I enjoy hanging out with friends, classic rock, swimming, welding and laying by the pool.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I like to golf, play tennis, build things and I am currently working on a figure 8 race car.
Kandra Tubbs
Current High School/Grade:
Going to be a Senior at South Adams
How did you end up interning at HPI:
My project lead the way teacher, Mrs. Dobler, told me about Conexus so I applied for that.
What type of things are you doing as an intern?
I will be spending time in all the departments, following apprentices and doing hands on things.
What attracts you to this business?
I enjoyed the design side of things in my Project Lead The Way classes and have recently taken to desinging things with CAD at school in my free time.
What are you planning on doing after this high school?
I want to go somewhere for a degree in mechanical engineering.
Tell us about yourself?
I’m from Berne and I attend South Adams. I am involved in band and a robotics club there.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy music and play various instruments. I like to use autodesk inventor to model things in my free time at school.
